Syrians Launch Petition Disassociating from Those Mourning Ismail Haniyeh's Death

With their condemnation of terrorist acts and the organizations involved, the Syrians who initiated the petition are calling for international support to achieve justice and restore stability to the country.

In a press statement issued by Syrian journalist Rabee al-Sha’ar, he, along with a group of Syrian dissidents, reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of the "noble Syrian revolution" and disavowed any association with terrorist organizations and entities operating within Syria and abroad.

The statement asserted that the group opposes Bashar al-Assad and his allies, including extremist Islamic organizations supported by Iran, Qatar, and Turkey, and rejects any form of cooperation or coordination with them.

The statement condemned media releases by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (al-Qaeda) and its administration in Idlib province, the terrorist militia Ahrar al-Sham, and their political and religious branches, including the Syrian Islamic Council in Turkey, which celebrated the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation (7 October , 2023) targeting innocent civilians, and glorified the deaths of internationally classified terrorists such as Ismail Haniyeh and Fuad Shukr.

The statement considered these groups, allied with extremist factions supported by Iran, Turkey, and Qatar—including Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Shia Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, Islamic Jihad in Gaza, and the Houthis in Yemen—to be completely opposed to their vision of a free and united Syria.

The statement expressed its condemnation of all forms of terrorism and those who adopt, support, or promote it, and its solidarity with any international efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms.

The statement called on the international community to classify these terrorist organizations and mercenaries as international terrorist entities and to pressure the Syrian regime and its allies to stop the repression and violations against the Syrian people.
