Jordan Reviews Policy on Syrian Refugees, Calls for Political Solution to Crisis
Jordan faces significant challenges due to the presence of over one million Syrian refugees on its territory. The country is working to resettle a portion of these refugees in other nations in collaboration with international organizations.
Jordanian Interior Minister Mazen Faraya announced on Tuesday that the Jordanian government is considering a review of its policy and strategy regarding Syrian refugees.
In a press conference, Faraya stated that more than one million refugees remain in Jordan, emphasizing that this situation cannot continue and is unsustainable. He noted that approximately 93,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their country since the beginning of the Syrian crisis.

Regarding the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Jordan, Faraya explained that 63,000 refugees have been resettled in other countries.
In a different context, Faraya confirmed that there is no direct evidence of countries being involved in smuggling drugs into Jordan.
Faraya stated, "What I want to say in this regard is that every country is responsible for protecting its borders. Although you as a country may not be directly involved and we have no evidence of your direct involvement in smuggling drugs into Jordan, you must control your borders and prevent anything, not just drugs, from reaching Jordan through your borders."
He added, "Today, we have no evidence of any country's involvement in smuggling drugs into Jordan, but it is the responsibility of every country to protect its borders and prevent harm to its neighbors through its borders." Finally, Faraya affirmed that Jordan is a safe and stable country that respects freedoms and upholds the law.
Jordan has been one of the countries most affected by the influx of Syrian refugees since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis in 2011. However, it faces economic, social, and security challenges due to the presence of refugees on its territory.
Jordan calls for greater international support to help bear the burden of refugees and provide essential services to them. It supports a political solution to the Syrian crisis and participates in international initiatives to end the conflict.
