Syrian Regime Maintains Silence Over Israeli Development on Alpha Line

Israel has begun implementing a development project along the "Alpha Line," the demilitarized zone under UN monitoring that separates Israel from areas controlled by the Damascus regime.

Satellite images analyzed by the American Associated Press reveal Israel paving a road directly along the border strip.

The United Nations indicated that Israeli forces entered the demilitarized zone during the work, violating the ceasefire rules governing the area.

The Associated Press reported that the Damascus regime is maintaining "silence" regarding the Israeli construction work, in a position that reflects its weakness.

These developments, which effectively began in late September, come after the Israeli army completed construction of new roads and fortifications along the Gaza Strip border.

The work coincides with similar movements by the Israeli army in southern Lebanon, where UNIFIL forces came under fire from the Israeli side.

The area surrounding the "Alpha Line" has not witnessed any major violence so far, as UN peacekeepers have continued their patrols in the demilitarized zone since 1974.
