Putin: Upcoming Dialogue with Assad on the Fate of Our Bases in Syria
بوتين والأسد

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Thursday his intention to hold talks with former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, mentioning that he would discuss the case of missing American journalist Austin Tice with him.

Putin affirmed that "Russia has not been defeated in Syria; it has achieved its goals there," addressing Western attempts to portray the situation in Syria as a defeat for Russia, emphasizing that this is far from the truth. He clarified that the fate of Russian military bases in Syria needs to be considered, suggesting the possibility of using his country's airbase for humanitarian purposes, in addition to its naval base.

Putin revealed that Russia has evacuated about 4,000 Iranian fighters from Syria, confirming that Russia has become stronger over the past four years despite Western attempts to weaken it. He also pointed out that the updated Russian nuclear doctrine considers new risks that could turn into military threats.

Regarding the events in Ukraine, Ukrainian forces are facing significant losses in the Kursk region, where a large number of military vehicles have been destroyed. Putin highlighted that the modern Russian weapon "Orishnik" has a range of up to 5,000 kilometers, stressing its superiority over Western systems in Romania and Poland.

In the regional context, Putin stated that any threat to Belarus is considered a direct threat to Russia, reflecting Moscow's commitment to ensuring the security of its ally. He criticized the Western silence regarding what he called the "terrorist attacks" carried out by the Kyiv regime, asserting that Russia will not hesitate to defend its interests.

In light of international relations, Putin expressed his willingness to communicate with former U.S. President Donald Trump if the opportunity arises, despite a lack of contact between them for more than four years.
