On Gülen charge Turkey arrests dozens of military and civilian people

Prosecutors in Turkish capital Ankara issued arrest warrants for 34 former Air Forces Command staff, 52 civilians in the education sector for their suspected links to the Fethulla Gülen group whom Ankara blames for the coup attempt.

Turkey accuses Gülen, who is based in the United States, of planning the coup attempt in the country in July 2016. Gülen denies any involvement.

Nearly three years after the coup attempt, authorities detained more than 77,000 people pending trial and dismissed or suspended about 150,000 government, military and other workers, Reuters reported in July.

Human rights defenders and Turkey's Western allies have criticized the scale of the security crackdown, saying President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is using the coup attempt as an excuse to suppress dissent.

The government says security is essential to the gravity of the threat to Turkey and has vowed to eliminate the Gülen network in the country.
