Naim Qassem Dismisses U.S. Elections and Threatens Israel

Hezbollah leader's statements reveal a clear strategy for long-term confrontation with Israel, ignoring political shifts in Washington and international pressure
Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem dismissed Wednesday the results of the U.S. presidential election, confirming his organization's readiness for an open war of attrition against Israel.
Qassem stated during a speech at the "40th day commemoration of former Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah," who was assassinated by Israel last September: "We don't build on American elections whether Kamala Harris or Donald Trump succeeds, this has no value for us."
He emphasized that his party has "tens of thousands of resistance fighters trained to confront the enemy. If the enemy is betting on a war of attrition, we are ready no matter how long it takes."
He noted his party's anticipation of confrontation, saying: "We expected an Israeli war to happen one day, and therefore we prepared," adding: "We have tens of thousands of trained fighters who can confront and stand firm, and we have the necessary capabilities for a long period."
Qassem highlighted that: "Only the battlefield can stop the aggression across borders, along with the Israeli internal front," and observed Netanyahu's plans saying: "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refuses to set a date for the end of the war, and he has a project that extends beyond Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon to the Middle East."
Qassem revealed that "the steps of this project through the war on Lebanon aim to end Hezbollah's existence, occupy Lebanon even remotely and make it similar to the West Bank, and work on the Middle East map."
He claimed that "our exclusive choice is to prevent the occupation from achieving its aggressive objectives, and resistance is the only option in our dictionary," pledging: "We will make the Israeli fully realize that they are losing in the field, not winning, and this loss will prevent them from achieving their goals."
He concluded his speech confirming their determination to make "the enemy the one who seeks to demand a stop to the aggression," adding: "We will not build expectations of stopping the aggression on political movement, and we will not beg to stop the aggression."
