Macron Pledges to Remain Loyal to Kurdish Fighters Combating Terrorism
-
The French position reflects a deep understanding of the importance of partnership with the Kurdish component as a fundamental guarantee for combating terrorism in the region

French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized on Monday his country's firm commitment to Kurdish fighters who have fought battles against terrorist organizations in Syria, stressing the need to deal realistically with the issue of political change in Syria.
During the French Ambassadors' Conference held in Paris, where he reviewed France's diplomatic strategy for the current year, Macron explained that Paris will continue its support for the transitional phase towards "a sovereign Syria that respects its ethnic, political and sectarian pluralism," according to French media outlets.
French Foreign Minister Jean Noel, in an exclusive interview with North Press last Friday, stressed the necessity of involving the Kurdish component in the process of rebuilding Syria's future.
Macron affirmed his commitment to "remain loyal to freedom fighters like the Kurds who are fighting terrorism, especially the Islamic State ISIS organization."
These statements come in the context of emphasizing the importance of strategic partnership with the Syrian Democratic Forces, which represents a model for self-administration and local governance in north and east Syria.
It is worth noting that France was one of the first countries to support the experience of north and east Syria, providing continuous political and humanitarian support to the region since 2015.
