Khamenei delivers Eid sermon carrying Russian rifle.
Iranian news agency 'Fares' reported on its Twitter account a video of Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei on Wednesday during delivering a sermon for Eid al-Fitr, while carrying a weapon in his left hand.
In a speech broadcasted live on television, Khamenei criticized the US plan for peace in the Middle East, calling it "a betrayal of the Islamic nation".
After the sermon ended, the Fares agency tweeted a picture accompanied by a clarification about the nature of the weapon that Khamenei carried during his speech.
The agency said: "This morning; the rifle (Dragunov) in the hands of the leader of the revolution during the speech.
Dragunov is a sniper rifle, Russian-made, lightweight and with a Kalashnikov-like mechanical movement.
Khamenei or any Iranian media did not speak about the reason of carrying the guide this gun, which appears to be just a show of Iranian power and sharpening the suffocating people of the country's economic crisis.
The confrontation between Iran and the United States intensified last month, a year after Washington withdrew from an agreement between Iran and world powers to curb Tehran's nuclear program, in return for lifting international sanctions.
During the speech, Khamenei said that "(the deal of the century)" will not be achieved, and this deal is a betrayal of the Islamic nation, and it will not see the light, according to IRNA news agency.
Washington is preparing to put the economic part of its expectant peace plan between Israel and the Palestinians, which is known as the "Deal of the Century", at a conference in Bahrain later this month.
The Palestinians rejected this plan, which is led by US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kuchner, and are saying that the White House policies are clearly biased towards Israel.
