The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, and the First Lady, 70, both matched in striking pink outfits as they met for the first time.

According to the Sun Kate was seen chatting to Mrs Biden as they strolled together.

They met with little ones in the classroom.

The women were pictured at Connor Downs Academy in Hayle, Cornwall to highlight the issue of early years development in children.

During their visit, Kate told reporters how excited she is to meet Harry and Meghan's baby daughter Lilibet Diana.

"I wish her all the very best, I can’t wait to meet her," she said.

"We haven't met her yet but hopefully that will be soon."

She and Mrs Biden visited the school as the little ones learned about landmarks in G7 countries - including Buckingham Palace.

Dr Biden could be seen holding up a picture of the White House at one point as they spoke to the youngsters while wearing face masks.

The pair also joined the school's "animal cadets" to help feed rabbits outside - with the First Lady happily carrying a bowl of carrots.

Kate's meeting with Dr Biden will be the third time she has met with a US president and his wife.

In 2011 and 2016 she twice met Barack and Michelle Obama.

After the joint engagement, she will then join the Queen and Camilla for Big Lunch event at the Eden Project. Kate Middleton
