Boris Johnson: Britain must keep up support for Kyiv amid 'Ukraine fatigue'
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday (June 18) that it is important Britain continues to show it is supporting Ukraine for the long haul. He warned of a risk of "Ukraine fatigue" as the war drags on.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Friday (June 17). This comes as his second trip to the Ukrainian capital since Russia’s invasion.
The meeting was shrouded in secrecy due to security concerns and is Johnson’s latest show of support for Zelenskyy since Russia invaded Ukraine in February.
Johnson told reporters on his arrival back in Britain from a visit to Kyiv: "The Russians are grinding forward inch by inch and it is vital for us to show what we know to be true which is that Ukraine can win and will win."

Some members of his Conservative Party had criticised him for making the trip instead of attending a conference in northern England.
Johnson said: "When Ukraine fatigue is setting in, it is very important to show that we are with them for the long haul and we are giving them the strategic resilience that they need."
