Developments are accelerating in northern rural Latakia with Turkish forces entering carrying engineering equipment and area measurement devices, in a step paving the way for establishing a military point in the elevated Al-Kamaliya area, as confirmed by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Field observers revealed the expansion of Turkish movements to include Turkmen and Alawite villages in Turkmen Mountain, Rabia and Kasab districts, Eagle Mountain, Al-Basit villages, and the surroundings of Baloran Dam, reaching the outskirts of Zaghrin and Qandil Valley.
The Syrian Observatory reported a serious incident in Al-Issawiya village, where villagers of the Turkmen majority expelled male and female teachers from the school based on their sectarian affiliation and seized the school keys from the principal.
Eyewitnesses explained that pro-Turkish groups pressured residents to expel non-"Turkmen" teachers, while residents formed an alternative educational staff without consulting the Latakia Education Directorate.
Local sources indicated that raising the Turkish flag on schools and mosques in Turkmen villages coincides with organizing celebrations in Qamluq Bay and Al-Batos Square, with the participation of social media influencers.
Strategic experts warned that these movements, preceded by three consecutive visits from Turkish intelligence, represent an obvious attempt to impose a new reality in the coastal region.
The Syrian Observatory stressed the need to neutralize education from partisan, ethnic, and sectarian directives, calling for protecting the educational process from external agendas.
Diplomats called on the interim caretaker government in Damascus to take a firm stance on these developments, especially with Turkish forces trying to present themselves as protectors of Alawites.
Political analysts confirmed that these movements come at a sensitive time after the fall of Assad's regime, warning of the risks of turning the coastal region into a Turkish sphere of influence. International law experts called on the international community and Arab countries to intervene quickly to stop these violations that threaten civil peace and Syrian territorial unity.
