US-Russian-Israeli meeting at the end of June to discuss Iran's threats
A senior US official said the tripartite meeting, which will include the United States, Russia and Israel at the end of June, will discuss the situation in Syria and the Iranian threats in the Middle East.
The official told the correspondent of "Al Arabiya" and Alhadath "in Washington that, despite the Russian-Iranian cooperation to support the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, but Moscow's overt participation in this meeting shows an openness on the Russian side to discuss the Iranian presence in Syria.
The official added that the meeting will discuss challenges in the region and the coordination for no military confrontation between the three parties, and the elimination of the Iranian presence in the region.
In another context, the official confirmed that the reconstruction of Syria "is not on the table" because US President Donald Trump "is not willing to spend taxpayer money while Bashar is still in power."
The official added; the administration is concerned about the situation in Idlib.
As for Assad's existence in power, the official said that the United States "supports the demands of the Syrian people, who paid a heavy price for their freedom.
The meeting between the United States, Russia and Israel will be at the level of national security advisers of the three countries.
The United States announced last week that John Bolton, the national security adviser to the White House, would meet his Israeli and Russian counterparts in Jerusalem in June.
But the States did not give any details about the meeting, which comes at a time of heightened tension between Washington and Tehran.
Last month, the Trump administration accelerated the deployment of an aircraft carrier and attack group and ordered Patriot bombers and missiles and more troops into the Middle East, citing intelligence about Iran's possible preparations to attack US forces or interests.
According to the Trump administration, Israeli national security adviser Meir Ben Shabat and Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of the Russian National Security Council, are expected to attend the meeting.
