Ukraine presidency says Russia had hand in Crimea bridge blast
A Ukrainian presidential advisor has suggested that Moscow was involved in the blast on the bridge which links the occupied Crimean peninsula to the Russian mainland on Saturday (Oct 8).
"It is worth noting that the truck that detonated, according to all indications, entered the bridge from the Russian side. So the answers should be sought in Russia," Kyiv's presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak said in comments released by the presidency.
Early Saturday morning (Oct 8), the Kerch bridge connecting Crimea to Russia caught fire. The cause of the fire at the Kerch bridge is unknown.
A huge explosion was heard before the massive fire broke out, according to eye-witnesses and video footages.
Three people died in the explosion on the Crimean Bridge, according to preliminary information from Russia's investigative committee into the incident.
The bridge linking Moscow-annexed Crimea to the Russian mainland has reopened to car traffic after it was heavily damaged by an explosion, the Russian-installed head of the peninsula said on Saturday (Oct 8).
