Turkish media: Syrian opposition advances within de-escalation zone

Reuters reported, citing unnamed Turkish security sources, that the operation being conducted by Syrian opposition factions towards Aleppo falls within the framework of the de-escalation zone in Idlib, agreed upon by Russia, Iran, and Turkey in 2019.
According to the sources, the limited operation carried out by opposition groups has significantly expanded following the withdrawal of Syrian regime forces from their positions. They indicated that these developments came after attacks launched by the regime on the area.
A source from the Turkish Ministry of Defense told the agency that Ankara is closely monitoring the recent movements of opposition factions in northern Syria and has taken all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of Turkish forces present there.
Syrian opposition factions launched Operation "Deterrence of Aggression" on Wednesday, achieving notable progress in the western rural areas of Aleppo within just two days, managing to seize control of 32 villages and strategic points over an area of 245 square kilometers, bringing them within 5 kilometers of the city of Aleppo.
Among the key areas captured by the factions are: al-Hota, Orm al-Kubra, Ainjarah, and Brigade 46. This operation marks the first breach of the front lines since the ceasefire agreement reached in March 2020.
As clashes continue, Syrian regime forces targeted residential areas with ground-to-ground missiles. Additionally, Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham and opposition factions managed to seize heavy weapons and military vehicles belonging to the Assad regime, arresting dozens of regime soldiers.
As a result of the ongoing clashes in the area, thousands of fleeing civilians have sought refuge in the Idlib countryside located in northwestern Syria, in search of a safe haven.
