Rishi Sunak to meet King Charles before entering No 10
Rishi Sunak, a 42-year-old practising Hindu, will officially become prime minister on Tuesday (Oct 25) after winning the Conservative Party leadership contest. He will travel to Buckingham Palace to meet King Charles before entering No 10 as the UK's first British Asian PM.
Sunak replaces Liz Truss, following her resignation just 45 days into her tumultuous premiership last week.
Outgoing PM Liz Truss will chair her last cabinet meeting at 09:00 before submitting her formal resignation to the King at 10:15.

In his first speech, Mr Sunak said bringing his party and the UK together would be his "utmost priority".

After being selected by Tory MPs on Monday (Oct 24), Sunak warned the country faced a "profound economic challenge" but promised to serve with integrity.
His key task will be to stabilise the economy after recent turmoil. That will involve getting his head around the medium term fiscal plan due to be delivered by the chancellor next Monday. Sunak will be the UK's third leader in seven weeks and is expected to make his first speech as PM outside Downing Street at 11:35.
