United States imposed new sanctions package on North Korea and Russia targeting Pyongyang's financial activities and military support for Moscow, US Treasury Department noted Monday.

Punitive measures, representing latest US move disrupting North Korean support for Russian military operations in Ukraine, include banking institutions, military officers, North Korean officials, plus Russian oil shipping companies.

Sanctions, per US Treasury statement, target North Korean Golden Triangle Bank and Korea Mandal Credit Bank, alongside Pyongyang generals part of thousands of soldiers deployed in Russia supporting war effort in Ukraine.

Sanctions coincided with United States, European Union, and 9 other countries issuing joint statement earlier today, condemning growing military cooperation between North Korea and Russia.

Signatory countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, and Britain stated: "We'll continue working coordinately, including imposing economic sanctions, responding to threat posed by North Korea-Russia partnership."

Moscow avoids confirming or denying North Korean forces' participation in military operations, while Pyongyang initially denied forces deployment reports calling them "fake news," before North Korean official declared such deployment legally compatible.
