In the aftermath of the Iranian missile attack on Israel on Tuesday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the failure of the attack. Netanyahu stated during a political-security meeting: "The Iranian missile attack on Israel has failed".

He added: "Iran made a big mistake tonight and will pay the price. The regime in Iran does not understand our determination and will understand. We are fighting the axis of evil in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria. We will attack those who attack us, and this applies to the Iranian axis of evil." Netanyahu also indicated that the United States participated in supporting Israel's defensive efforts.

For his part, Israeli Chief of Staff General Herzi Halevi made statements at the end of the security situation assessment, saying: "We will choose when Iran will pay the price."

He continued: "Israel has proven its ability to prevent the enemy from achieving any accomplishment, through the combination of ideal citizen behavior and a very strong air defense system. We will choose when they will pay the price, and we will demonstrate our precise and surprising offensive capabilities, according to the directives of the political leadership."

According to the Israeli army, Iran launched about 180 missiles towards Israeli territories. An Israeli military spokesman confirmed that the attack aimed to "kill thousands" of Israeli civilians, describing it as "unprecedented."

On the other hand, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that the attack came in response to what it described as the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. It threatened to launch "crushing attacks" if Israel responds, claiming that the attack targeted "important security and military targets in the heart of the occupied territories."

It is worth noting that this attack is the second launched by Iran against Israel after the attack last April, which Tehran confirmed came as "self-defense" after the attack on its consulate in Damascus. In light of these developments, media outlets quoted the Israeli army as saying that the air force will continue to carry out "strong strikes" tonight across the Middle East.
