Mexico Announces Deployment of Reinforcements to Combat Los Angeles Fires
On Saturday, Mexico announced plans to send reinforcements to tackle the devastating wildfires sweeping through the Los Angeles area in California, near the border between the two countries, where a large number of Mexicans reside.
In a statement on Saturday morning, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that she would be sending a "humanitarian aid team" to Los Angeles, emphasizing that Mexico is considered a "country of generosity and solidarity."
Through her account on the platform “X,” Sheinbaum shared a photo of two cargo planes preparing to take off from Mexico Airport.
She also mentioned on Friday that she would be sending a "support team consisting of specialists in wildfire fighting," pointing out the large number of Mexicans living in this area of the United States. She confirmed that the necessary documents for the volunteers are being finalized so they can head to California.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles fires continue to spread, having resulted in at least 11 fatalities so far, prompting local authorities to issue new evacuation orders for areas that had previously been considered safe.
