Israel Bombs Damascus.. And Threatens Syrian Interim President
-
A dangerous Israeli escalation comes as part of a policy to expand the circle of confrontation in the region, which may lead to reactions with unpredictable consequences

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz sent a direct warning to the Syrian Interim Transitional President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, calling him the "leader of the extremist Islamic group" and threatening that he would see Israeli aircraft roaming his country's airspace and targeting what he described as "terrorist targets" on Syrian territory.
Katz's hostile statements came following raids launched by Israeli fighters Thursday morning targeting the "Dummar Project" area in the capital Damascus, which specifically targeted one of the leaders of the Palestinian "Islamic Jihad" movement present in Syria.
Katz claimed responsibility for the attack on Damascus, saying: "Wherever terrorist activity is organized against Israel, the leader of the extremist Islamic group will find Air Force planes flying in the sky and attacking terrorist targets."
Special sources told RT channel that two missiles fell targeting the Dummar Project area in the Syrian capital, indicating that the bombing resulted in damage to a number of residential buildings, and the attack was accompanied by the sound of violent explosions that shook the area.
Social media circulated photos and videos showing rising plumes of smoke and the destruction that affected the targeted buildings in the "Dummar Terraces" area, which is known as home to the wealthy class and social elite in Syrian society.
Israeli media reported that the target of the Israeli airstrikes was a senior leader in the Palestinian "Islamic Jihad" movement who is based in Syria.
