Berri Condemns Israeli Violations and Calls for Enforcement of Ceasefire Agreement

Amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect last Wednesday between Israel and Hezbollah, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri affirmed that the Israeli army is flagrantly violating the truce.

In a statement today, Monday, Berri urged the committee responsible for monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement to commence its duties urgently, demanding that Israel be obligated to stop its hostilities. He also called on the committee to pressure Israeli forces to withdraw from the occupied territories in the south.

Berri emphasized that the actions of Israeli forces, including the demolition of homes in border Lebanese villages and continued air sorties and raids targeting deep areas in Lebanon, constitute a clear violation of the agreement's terms. He stated, "Yesterday, we witnessed assaults in areas such as Hosh Sayyid Ali in Hermel and Jadida Marjeyoun, resulting in several fatalities and injuries. We direct a question to the technical committee formed to monitor this agreement: Where are you regarding these ongoing violations that have exceeded 54 incidents, while Lebanon remains fully committed to its commitments?"

Berri's remarks came after the Israeli army claimed it attacked military vehicles belonging to Hezbollah near military infrastructure in Hermel. At the same time, the Lebanese army announced earlier today that a drone had targeted one of its positions in the area, resulting in moderate injuries to a soldier.
