Attempt to Bomb Sayyida Zainab Shrine in Rural Damascus Foiled
The General Intelligence Service and the Directorate of General Security in Rural Damascus successfully thwarted an attempted bombing targeting the Sayyida Zainab Shrine in the vicinity of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Authorities announced the arrest of several individuals suspected of being involved in this operation, who are believed to be affiliated with ISIS.
Security officials confirmed that this attempt aimed to destabilize the region and incite chaos. They also mentioned that strict security measures have been implemented to ensure the protection of the shrine and the surrounding areas.
One of the circulated images revealed the presence of Lebanese identification documents, along with weapons, grenades, and mines prepared to be turned into explosive devices.
In a statement to the Sana News Agency, a source from the General Intelligence Service said: "We confirm that the General Intelligence Service is deploying all its resources to confront any attempts to target the Syrian people across all factions."
