Washington Imposes Sanctions on Sudanese Army Commander
عبد الفتاح البرهان - الانترنت

Three informed sources told Reuters that the United States will impose sanctions on the head of Sudan's Sovereign Council, Army Chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, today, Thursday.

One of the sources, a diplomat, explained that the imposition of these sanctions is a result of the Sudanese Armed Forces targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, in addition to obstructing humanitarian aid and refusing to participate in peace talks that took place last year.

These developments come as reports indicate a worsening humanitarian situation in the Al-Jazeera state, where the Sudanese army and its allied militias have committed horrific crimes, including murder and arson, and the throwing of civilian bodies into the Nile River, according to local testimonies and human rights reports.

The sources also noted that the Sudanese army has severed all means of communication in the state, raising concerns about the potential for further massacres against civilians.
