The Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is urging all Ukrainians to be particularly careful on 24 August when Ukraine celebrates its Independence Day due to the increased threat of Russian missile strikes and provocations, Pravda news website reported.

"There is a heightened threat of missile strikes and other provocations, both from within the country and from the outside. Russia and Putin's regime have attacked Ukraine’s independence and the independent Ukraine," Andrii Yusov, spokesman for the Chief Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine said.

"They really are obsessed with dates and symbols, so it would be perfectly reasonable to be particularly careful and prepared for the fact that Independence Day [celebration] will also come under attack."

Ukrainian intelligence insists that the state is prepared for possible attack in the light of the fact that Russia still has a large number of missiles that can inflict a lot of damage.

The Chief Intelligence Directorate stresses that air raid sirens are a serious signal that all Ukrainians must take care to heed, especially on 23 and 24 August, when all citizens have been asked to be particularly cautious.
