UK says fighting in eastern Ukraine will intensify over the next 2-3 weeks

The A news reported, citing Reuters, the UK's Ministry of Defence tweeted in a regular bulletin on Tuesday (Apr 12), fighting in eastern Ukraine will intensify over the next two to three weeks as Russia continues to refocus its efforts there.

British military intelligence said, Russian attacks remain focused on Ukrainian positions near Donetsk and Luhansk with further fighting around Kherson and Mykolaiv and a renewed push towards Kramatorsk.

The report also said that Russian forces continue to withdraw from Belarus in order to redeploy in support of operations in eastern Ukraine.

Reuters said, it could not immediately verify the report.

As far as the war crmies commited by Russian forces, earlier Monday (Apr 11), Ukraine said tens of thousands of people have likely been killed in Russia's assault on the southeastern city of Mariupol while the country's rights ombudswoman accused Russian forces in the region of torture and executions.

President Volodymyr Zelenskey confirmed in a video address to South Korean lawmakers without providing more details: "Mariupol has been destroyed, there are tens of thousands of dead, but even despite this, the Russians are not stopping their offensive."
