Trump Prepares for His Second Inauguration Amid Exceptional Circumstances

President-elect Donald Trump is preparing for his highly anticipated inauguration ceremony today, Monday, preceded by a victory celebration in Washington. Trump delivered his first major speech since January 6, 2021, the date when his supporters stormed the Capitol building.
In his speech delivered among his supporters, Trump vowed to take swift and unprecedented actions, indicating that he would issue numerous executive orders in the early days of his term. He emphasized that he would make decisive decisions aimed at addressing the challenges facing the country.
The official inauguration ceremony will be exceptionally unique, as the indoor proceedings have been moved to the Capitol building due to harsh temperatures, a rare occurrence not seen in 40 years since President Ronald Reagan's inauguration. Temperatures are expected to drop today to between -6 to -11 degrees Celsius as sunset approaches, whereas the temperature during Trump’s first inauguration in 2017 was around 8 degrees.
Typically, the inauguration takes place outdoors in front of the Capitol, where a large crowd of spectators gathers, but the current weather conditions forced organizers to alter their plans. Nonetheless, over 200,000 tickets have been distributed for Trump’s second inauguration, allowing invited guests to follow the proceedings on large screens rather than being present at the venue.
It is also noteworthy that the celebration will be held under the flag-draping period due to the death of former President Jimmy Carter on December 29. The outgoing president, Joe Biden, ordered flags to be flown at half-staff for thirty days, meaning the flags will be at half-staff on Trump’s inauguration day, which has displeased him. In his comments on this, Trump noted that the somber scene cannot please any American.
Additionally, Trump confirmed that he plans to use the "Capital One" arena for a rally of supporters to watch the inauguration live, stating that he would meet them there to continue the celebrations after the inauguration ceremony concludes.
In related news, the Capitol Police confirmed that strict security measures have been implemented around the building, with all law enforcement agencies cooperating with the Secret Service and the New York Police Department to ensure the security of the event, focusing on necessary plans for various security scenarios.
