The Arab-European Centre calls for urgent international action against the Houthis
The Arab-European Center of Human Rights and International Law in the Kingdom of Norway issued a statement calling for urgent international action against the terrorist Houthi movement.
This demand is made because these armed terrorist groups violated recent UN Security Council resolutions. The last of these violations is when the Houthi militia used drones to carry out terrorist attacks on the al-Dabba oil port in the Hadhramaut governorate in eastern Yemen.
Dr Saad Al-Hamid, the centre's international relations advisor, said what the terrorist Houthi militias are doing by attacking waterways and civilian facilities is a clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216.
Al-Hamid also confirmed it is a violation of the right and freedom of international navigation which is part of international law.
Al-Hamid stressed these terrorist operations undermine international efforts to support the peace process and extend the humanitarian truce to reduce the Yemeni people's suffering.
The Arab-European Center called on the international community, especially the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg to make more efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement based on the pre-agreed references.
He also called for urgent intervention to stop the Houthi group's attacks on civilian facilities and populated places in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
