Tehran Welcomes Grossi.. Insists on Negotiations Without Pressure

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized on Thursday, following a meeting in Tehran with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, his country's rejection of negotiations "under pressure and intimidation" regarding its nuclear program.

Araghchi tweeted on X platform, saying "We are ready to negotiate based on our national interests and inalienable rights, but we are not ready to negotiate under pressure and intimidation."

Araghchi hosted the UN official Rafael Grossi in the Iranian capital for substantive talks on the Iranian nuclear file, as shown in footage published by the official IRNA agency.

It's worth noting that Araghchi served as the head of the Iranian negotiating team during nuclear talks with major powers in 2015.

IRNA reported that "Rafael Grossi... who arrived in Tehran last night (Wednesday) heading a delegation to negotiate with senior nuclear and political officials in the country, met with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi."

This visit coincided with Donald Trump's victory for a new presidential term in the United States.

During his previous term, the Republican leader implemented a "maximum pressure" strategy toward Iran, mainly manifested in the unilateral withdrawal in 2018 from the international agreement regarding Iran's nuclear program.
