Saudi Arabia intercepted and destroyed an unspecified “hostile air target” aimed at Jeddah, the Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

The ministry did not provide further information nor did it say who could have been behind the attack.

In the past, Saudi Arabia has intercepted ballistic missles and explosive-laden drones fired by the Iran-backed Houthis towards the Kingdom.

Since January, Yemen’s Houthis have launched dozens of aerial attacks targeting civilian areas and energy facilities in the Kingdom.
