A total of 423 children have been killed and over 810 injured in Ukraine since the Russian operation started, the relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office on Telegram, APA reports citing Ukrinform.

“Over 1,233 children in Ukraine have been affected by the Russian military operation. As of October 14, 2022, a total of 423 children were killed and over 810 received injuries of various severity levels,” the report states.

According to UNICEF, more than 5.5 million children are in need of humanitarian assistance as they continue to suffer the deadly consequences of a brutal war not of their making.

By early October 2022, more than 7.6 million individual refugees from Ukraine had been recorded across Europe, while millions more people had been internally displaced in Ukraine, UNICEF said in a statement.

The large-scale displacements being seen could have lasting consequences for generations to come. Children fleeing war in Ukraine are at heightened risk of human trafficking and exploitation.

Meanwhile, attacks using explosive weapons in populated urban areas have inflicted civilian casualties, including children, and considerable damage to essential infrastructure and services.
