rian Kurdish Journalists Network Condemns Targeting of Journalists in Amuda

The Syrian Kurdish Journalists Network expresses its strong condemnation of the direct targeting of journalists by Turkish drones and air forces that occurred today, Thursday, in the city of Amuda, west of Qamishli. This attack took place while journalists were covering the Turkish shelling that targeted an electricity distribution station in the city.
This assault is part of a series of violent airstrikes carried out by Turkey on various areas and cities in northern and eastern Syria since Wednesday night, targeting vital and civilian facilities as well as civilian property.
According to testimonies from one of the targeted journalists, the media team was "directly targeted while documenting the aftermath of the shelling. Although none of them were harmed, the attack resulted in significant material damage at the site." The journalists affected by this targeting included "Jamil Omar from Radio (Orkesh), Simaf Mohammad from (Hawar) Agency, and Osman Bolut, Fawaz Mohammad, and Juana Jumaa from (Ronahi) TV."
In this context, the Syrian Kurdish Journalists Network reiterates its strong condemnation of this deliberate targeting of journalists who are carrying out their duty to convey the truth. It also reminds that journalists are civilians protected under international law, and such attacks constitute a blatant violation of press freedom and pose a threat to the security and peace of the region as well as to the lives of innocent people.
The network calls upon relevant international and global organizations concerned with journalism to intervene immediately to stop these attacks and to hold accountable those responsible for these violations that threaten the safety of journalists and hinder their work in northern and eastern Syria.
