A violent altercation broke out at Musab bin Umair Mosque in Hama, Syria, between worshippers and members of a radical Salafi group after the latter accused the worshippers of practicing what they termed "infidel rituals."

This incident comes amid rising tensions between various religious factions in Syrian regions, with increasing doctrinal disagreements between radical Salafi movements and followers of traditional sects, raising concerns that these disputes could escalate into broader confrontations.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Salafi group entered the mosque during a prayer and objected to certain religious practices, describing them as "innovations that contradict Islamic law." This provoked anger among the worshippers, leading to verbal exchanges and, eventually, physical confrontation.

Local sources indicated that while similar tensions have occurred in Hama's mosques before, this is the first time the disagreements have escalated into direct clashes, reflecting the growing religious polarization in society.

Many residents expressed concern about the potential impact of such incidents on civil peace, calling for the intervention of moderate religious authorities to de-escalate the situation and reject extremism in all its forms, especially in places of worship.
