Power Struggle Topples Aleppo Lawyers Syndicate Council.. In Protest Against Marginalization
-
The crisis in the relationship between Aleppo Lawyers Syndicate Council and the Central Council reveals the continuation of the detestable centralization approach that prevailed under the previous reg

The resignation of the Aleppo branch council of the Lawyers Syndicate, headed by Jamal Salloum, has captured the attention of legal circles, amid fears of repeating the centralization approach that harmed Syrian governorates' interests during the previous era.
The resignation statement explained that the surrounding circumstances and deteriorating conditions of the syndicate, along with the council's failed attempts to improve lawyers' conditions and revive the syndicate's activities, pushed the council to make this decision.
Informed lawyers in Aleppo revealed that the council's disregard for the branch's demands reflects the continuation of the exclusion and marginalization mentality that prevailed during the previous regime's era.
Legal experts confirmed that the Aleppo branch council's resignation represents a warning bell for the council headed by Ahmed Mohammed Dakhan, who assumed his duties after the regime's fall on December 8th last year.
Rights activists emphasized that the council's disregard for repeated communication attempts by the Aleppo branch contradicts the revolution's principles and goals in achieving justice and equality among all Syrian governorates.
Legal observers indicated that continuing the centralization approach in managing professional institutions threatens to repeat past mistakes that led to concentrating powers in Damascus and marginalizing other governorates.
The resignation statement signatories explained that their decision came out of concern for the revolution's gains and the cohesion of lawyers' ranks in Aleppo, affirming that excessive centralization threatens the unity of the Syrian legal body.
Local administration experts warned that ignoring governorates' demands and managing professional institutions with a centralized mentality contradicts the transitional phase requirements and threatens to reproduce the central governance system that proved its failure.
