Observatory: Russia Behind the Decision to Disband the Syrian Army

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that the decision to disband the Syrian army was made under pressure from the Russian side, indicating that the destruction of the army's arsenal is being implemented under an international agreement.
In a report published by the news channel "Al Arabiya/Al Hadath" on Wednesday, the observatory reported that the number of airstrikes on the Syrian army has risen to 350. This coincided with statements from a former Kremlin official who confirmed that Russia is no longer able to support Assad due to the exhaustion of its forces from the war in Ukraine.
Information also indicates that Russia has withdrawn a significant number of its aircraft and troops from its military base in Latakia, in light of the ongoing requirements of the war in Ukraine, which began in February 2022.
In related news, Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes on Syria since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad. On Tuesday, the Israeli army confirmed that it carried out air and naval attacks against "the majority of strategic weapon stockpiles in Syria" to prevent them from falling into the hands of terrorist elements.
Reports noted that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights recorded over 300 airstrikes in various regions of Syria in recent days. It reported that during an airstrike carried out on Monday night, about 10 ships belonging to the Israeli navy were damaged, in addition to targeting other military sites, including the "Scientific Research Center" in Barzeh, Damascus, and army warehouses at the port of Latakia.
It is noteworthy that the abrupt withdrawal of many soldiers and officers from the Syrian army during battles against armed factions has raised eyebrows, as the attacking forces continued their rapid advance from Aleppo towards Damascus, passing through Hama and Homs. It was also observed that some soldiers in Damascus changed their military uniforms for civilian clothes in an attempt to hide.
