More than 3 million meals distributed at Grand Mosque in Makkah during 20 days of Ramadan
The Asharq Al-Awsat reported, the Saudi Press Agency on Friday (Apr 22), the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has handed out over 3,000,000 iftar meals in the courtyards of the Grand Mosque during the first 20 days of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
The meals are being provided by a number of charitable organizations, in cooperation with the Watering and Support Committee at Makkah Principality and several government agencies.
Meanwhile, the Makkah Health Department continues to provide preventive and ambulatory services for Umrah performers at hospitals, primary medical care centers and health centers in Makkah.
The official spokesperson of Makkah Health Department, Hamad bin Faihan, said the department is implementing an integrated plan to provide health care for Umrah performers around the clock.
On Thursday (Apr 21), a Saudi minister said in a health status update that there are no epidemic outbreaks, diseases, or events threatening public health at Makkah’s Grand Mosque.
Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajil said the health status among pilgrims and visitors is “reassuring.”

He said: “The preventive plan prepared set for the Umrah season of Ramadan 2022 includes preventive measures, epidemiological examination procedures and response to infectious diseases."
