Lebanon rejects Muslim Brotherhood pressure to release Qaradawi's son

The Lebanese judiciary's move according to legal procedures shows commitment to Arab cooperation in combating terrorism and confronting incitement to violence
Lebanese Cassation Public Prosecutor, Judge Jamal Al-Hajjar, published new details regarding the detention of Abdul Rahman Al-Qaradawi, son of Muslim Brotherhood member Yusuf Al-Qaradawi.
In statements to "Asharq Al-Awsat" newspaper, the judge clarified that Al-Qaradawi's son's detention in Lebanon was based on Interpol's circular issued by the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, acting on an Egyptian court verdict in absentia condemning him for spreading false information and calling for violence and terrorism.
The Public Prosecutor explained that he will receive the accused tomorrow Monday from the General Security Directorate for investigation according to legal requirements, indicating that they await an official request from Cairo for the accused's extradition to study the possibility of his handover.
The Muslim Brotherhood demanded through intensive media campaigns that the Lebanese government release Abdul Rahman Al-Qaradawi.
"Al-Arabiya.net" had previously published details about Lebanese authorities' arrest of Al-Qaradawi's son based on his inclusion in Interpol's Red Notice list, for his conviction in multiple cases and prison sentences in Egypt for involvement in broadcasting fabricated news and inciting terrorism.
Sources indicate that the accused entered Lebanon from Syrian territory using a Turkish travel document, while the group is pressuring Ankara to intervene and secure his release as a Turkish citizen.
Brotherhood institutions, specifically the International Union of Muslim Scholars founded by his father, launched a violent attack on the Lebanese state, describing its behavior in arresting Al-Qaradawi's son as reckless conduct that contradicts moral and humanitarian values and principles of justice, according to their claims.
The accused had visited Damascus in a brief visit to Syria, where he participated in celebrations of the Syrian revolution, offering congratulations to the Syrian people.
Abdul Rahman Yusuf posted a video from Syria during his participation in the celebrations that included insults to Egypt and Gulf countries, which prompted widespread demands from activists, including Syrians, for his arrest and trial for his offensive statements.
