Lebanon's total confirmed cases of Omicron COVID-19 variant rose to 29

The Xinhua reported, Lebanon's Health Ministry said on Tuesday that the total confirmed cases of Omicron COVID-19 variant rose to 29.

The ministry said that all the Omicron cases were registered among arriving passengers from abroad.

It reported an increase of 1,806 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, raising the total number of infections in Lebanon to 703,555, while its death toll went up by 15 to 8,965.

Health Minister Firas Abiad has been urging Lebanese citizens to get the vaccine shots in hope to curb the pandemic's spread, noting that only 35 percent of the population in Lebanon have been vaccinated so far.

The Xinhua noted that Lebanon has been fighting the COVID-19 pandemic since Feb. 21, 2020.
