Israeli Army to Outsource Maintenance of Armored Vehicles for the First Time in History

For the first time in its history, the Israeli army will outsource the repair and maintenance of its various armored vehicles, including tanks and armored personnel carriers, due to the urgent needs arising from the year-long conflict with Hezbollah and Hamas.
Previously, repairs on Israel's military vehicles and equipment were conducted exclusively by the Israeli army’s Technology and Maintenance Corps.
According to the Israeli news site "Walla," it was reported on Sunday that the Israeli Ministry of Defense plans to issue its first tender on this matter in the coming months through its Production and Procurement Department. Additionally, the ministry will decide, in consultation with the Israeli army, whether to shift part of the armored vehicle production—currently managed by the Technology and Maintenance Corps—to local industries.
The website, affiliated with Yedioth Ahronoth, noted that the ongoing conflict with Hamas and Hezbollah has led to significant wear and tear on armored combat vehicles, necessitating repairs and maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
Furthermore, the Israeli army will need to restore all of its armored vehicles, including Merkava tanks and Namer APCs, to full readiness once the war concludes.
According to the Ministry of Defense, this process will take several years due to the vast number of vehicles and the significant demand for spare parts, as indicated by the report.
