Israeli Army Announces the Assassination of Hezbollah Envoy to Syrian Forces

The Israeli army announced the assassination of Hezbollah envoy to the Syrian regime, Salman Nimer Jumaa, in an airstrike in Damascus, marking the first such attack since the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon was reached.

The Israeli army stated that its aircraft attacked Damascus yesterday, Tuesday, under the guidance of intelligence. They were able to eliminate "Hezbollah's envoy to the Syrian army," Salman Nimer Jumaa.

The Israeli army noted that Jumaa played a crucial role on behalf of Hezbollah within the military apparatus of the regime in transferring combat supplies.

Jumaa is considered a veteran in Hezbollah, having held various positions, particularly in Syria, where he served as the operations officer at the Damascus headquarters before becoming the party’s envoy to the regime forces.

He served as a link connecting Hezbollah affiliates with elements of the Syrian regime and assisted in facilitating the transfer of weapons from regime forces to Lebanon, according to the Israeli army.

The Israeli army also confirmed that Jumaa had close relationships with senior officials of the Syrian regime and was a significant and active figure in Syria, adding that his elimination represents a blow to Hezbollah's positioning in Syria and contributes to curbing its growth.

The Israeli army emphasized that the Syrian regime supports Hezbollah and allows it to exploit Syria for transferring weapons to Lebanon, clarifying that this places Syrian and Lebanese citizens at risk.

An Israeli aircraft conducted an airstrike on Tuesday afternoon, targeting a vehicle near the Aqirba Bridge on the road to Damascus International Airport, resulting in the vehicle catching fire.

The regime’s news agency, SANA, quoted a source in the Damascus countryside police stating that "a vehicle exploded due to an Israeli aggression targeting it on the road to Damascus International Airport," without providing any additional details.

It is noteworthy that Israeli strikes against Iranian militias and Hezbollah in Syria have significantly increased recently; however, they saw a decline since the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon went into effect on November 27.
