Israeli Army Announces Destruction of Military Equipment and Infrastructure in Quneitra Countryside
The Israeli army announced on Thursday the destruction of military equipment and infrastructure in the Quneitra countryside in southern Syria. Army spokesperson Avichai Adraee explained that "the forces of the Golani Brigade 474 continue to carry out defensive operations aimed at securing the residents of Israel and the Golan Heights."
He added that "the armored, engineering, and infantry forces are continuing their search operations in the areas under control, where they are seizing and destroying the weapons and infrastructure belonging to the Syrian army."
He claimed that during one of the search operations, an armored personnel carrier containing a large cache of weapons, including anti-tank missiles and explosives, was found, and all these materials were seized and destroyed to prevent them from reaching hostile entities and to protect the Defense Forces and the residents of the Golan Heights.
On Wednesday, Israeli occupation forces carried out a new incursion into southern Quneitra, beginning search operations in the farms, accompanied by military vehicles that were leveling agricultural land.
Local sources reported that the Israeli army entered yesterday morning with a convoy of tanks into the towns of Al-Asha, Abu Ghara, and the Hirran farm, where search and land leveling operations were conducted.
A local resident stated in a video clip that the army cut off electricity and vandalized agricultural lands during the incursion, appealing to the new Syrian administration and the United Nations to intervene and stop the Israeli violations.
Days earlier, the Israeli army managed to seize control of the Al-Mantara water dam in the Quneitra countryside as part of a new incursion into Syrian territory.
Following the fall of the Assad regime, the Israeli army intensified its operations in Syrian areas adjacent to the buffer zone in the occupied Golan. About two weeks ago, occupation forces invaded the Syrian side of Mount Sheikh, announcing control over an abandoned military site, and described this step as a "temporary security measure" until new arrangements are reached. During a visit to the site, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the army will remain in the area "to protect Israel's security," without specifying a withdrawal date.
