Hamas Comments on Negotiations with the U.S. President's Envoy

Hamas announced through an official spokesperson that it is dealing flexibly with the efforts of mediators, including the envoy of former U.S. President Donald Trump, and expressed its anticipation for the results of the forthcoming negotiations. The movement emphasized the necessity of obligating Israel to move to the second phase of the Gaza agreement.
In a statement, Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanou stated that the ongoing negotiations with Egyptian and Qatari mediators and Adam Bowler, Trump’s envoy, focus on ending the conflict in Gaza, the need for Israeli forces to withdraw from the strip, and the reconstruction of what has been destroyed.
Al-Qanou reported that the movement is fully committed to the first phase of the agreement, stressing that its current priorities include providing housing and relief for its people and ensuring a permanent ceasefire.
The spokesperson also confirmed Hamas's acceptance of the Egyptian proposal to form a community support committee to begin its work in the Gaza Strip with the aim of "strengthening our people's resilience and rooting them in their homeland."
He pointed out that the tightening of the blockade by the occupation, the closure of crossings, and the prevention of aid to the Gaza people aim to push them to emigrate, describing this as "pipe dreams."
Al-Qanou concluded his statement by affirming that the occupation's talk of military plans to resume fighting in Gaza and decisions to cut electricity are failed options that pose a threat to its soldiers, asserting that their liberation can only be achieved through negotiations.
It is noteworthy that the first phase of the agreement ended on March 1, while Israel has yet to respond to entering the second phase, which effectively means ending the conflict. Over the past few days, significant disagreements regarding the conditions for the next phase have persisted, while Hamas has called for urgent negotiations. Meanwhile, Israel continues to refuse this and has intentionally halted the delivery of aid to Gaza, recently announcing a cut in electricity supplies to the devastated strip.
