Death Toll Rises to 2,089 in Syrian Coastal Security Operation

The total number of civilian and military casualties has risen to 2,089 as part of the security operation launched in response to the attacks by Alawite militants on security forces on Thursday, March 6.
The casualties are distributed as follows: 273 security personnel and Ministry of Defense members, and 259 Alawite militants known as the "remnants of Assad." Additionally, 1,557 civilians have lost their lives due to targeted operations since the onset of attacks on security and military forces on March 6 to today, Monday, March 17.
In the details of the massacres that occurred on March 17, the Syrian Observatory documented two massacres in the cities of Latakia and Tartus, resulting in the deaths of 57 civilians, the majority of whom belong to the Alawite community. The distribution is as follows:

- Ain al-Arous Village: 18
- Qabu al-Awamiyah Village: 4
(Tartus: 7 casualties)
- Tartus City: 1
- Karto Village: 3

- Homs: 13.
On Thursday, March 6, Alawite militants attacked the security forces and Ministry of Defense checkpoints in the Syrian coastal region, leading to extensive clashes and security operations that lasted for three days. The living conditions in the coast and mountainous regions have worsened due to shortages of food and daily necessities for families, coinciding with the security operation, while daily life has begun to recover.
Thousands of citizens fleeing their homes are sheltering inside the Russian Hmeimim base, escaping from the targeted operations and crimes committed by members of the Ministries of Defense and Interior and their allied militants against the Alawite community.
