Civil Defense in Gaza: 15 Martyrs Due to Israeli Airstrikes in Rafah and Nuseirat

On Wednesday, the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced the martyrdom of 15 individuals following two airstrikes conducted by Israeli forces early in the morning on homes in Rafah (south) and Nuseirat (central).
The spokesperson for the Civil Defense, Mahmoud Basal, reported to Agence France-Presse that the Israeli bombardment resulted in the martyrdom of 13 people, in addition to several injuries, due to the targeting of Israeli army aircraft on a house sheltering displaced persons in central Khan Younis, including children. He also clarified that "two other martyrs fell as a result of an airstrike targeting a house in the Nuseirat camp."
In a related context, the Gaza Ministry of Health stated that the intensive Israeli attacks that began on March 18 have resulted in the martyrdom of 1,042 individuals as of yesterday. The ministry reported that ongoing Israeli bombardment and ground military operations have led to 2,542 individuals being injured with varying degrees of severity.
The ministry indicated that the total toll of martyrs in Gaza since the outbreak of war on October 7, 2023, has reached 50,399 individuals, and that the attacks have caused extensive destruction to infrastructure and residential areas.
The intensity of the military escalation has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where residents are suffering from severe shortages of food, medicine, and drinking water. International organizations have warned of further deterioration in conditions amid a lack of diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
Reports confirmed that the Israeli aggression has led to the destruction of 292,000 homes, either damaged or destroyed, while 95% of hospitals have ceased operations. The economy in Gaza has contracted by 83%, and prices have surged by 300%, resulting in an unemployment rate of 80%.
International reports indicated that the scale of material losses in Gaza has surpassed $30 billion, with 53% of the damages concentrated in the housing sector, and economic and social losses amounting to approximately $19.1 billion.
International warnings continue that Gaza is facing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, while Israeli forces persist in targeting the infrastructure of the Strip, amid a lack of effective international actions to impose a ceasefire or pressure Israel to adhere to international laws.
