Biden: The Situation in Syria and Lebanon Has Improved After Ending Iranian Influence

U.S. President Joe Biden affirmed that the situation in Syria and Lebanon has significantly improved following the overthrow of Iranian influence, emphasizing the importance of ousting the Assad regime and the negative effects that "Hezbollah" has faced during the conflict with Israel.
In statements made on Sunday, Biden noted that "the regime of Bashar al-Assad has been removed, and Iran is now experiencing unprecedented weakness after decades, which has helped protect Israel from the threat of Iranian missiles." He pointed out that there are opportunities available to build a democratic system away from Assad's tyranny.
Biden added that "some predicted the United States would become embroiled in a wide-ranging regional war due to its support for Israel, but we succeeded in destroying Hezbollah's leadership and significantly weakening Hamas's supporters." He further explained that there are two leaderships in Lebanon working to diminish the party's influence.
Regarding the Palestinian situation, Biden emphasized that "the guns have fallen silent in Gaza," and a ceasefire agreement was reached after difficult negotiations, noting that this achievement was made possible with U.S. support and the pressure that Israel exerted on Hamas.
He clarified that the path to this agreement was not easy; it was achieved after lengthy efforts, which provided the Palestinian people a real opportunity to establish an independent state, provided that the relationships between Israel and its neighbors in the region, including Saudi Arabia, are consolidated.
The ousting of the Assad regime represents a significant blow to Iran and its project in the region, as Iran has lost what it has worked for over the years, leading to a state of confusion among its officials. After the collapse of the Syrian regime, Iran claimed that its military presence in the country was merely "advisory" and expressed its concern for Syria's sovereignty and integrity. Nevertheless, the remarks from Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have become more severe towards the Syrian people and their new government than they were previously.
