65 Civilians Killed in Syria During July 2024

Report: 65 Civilians Killed in Syria During July 2024
The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the deaths of 65 civilians in Syria during July 2024, including 23 children, 3 women, and 6 victims due to torture.
The report detailed that 65 civilians were killed by "parties to the conflict and controlling forces in Syria" during July 2024. Among them, 8 civilians, including two children, were killed by the Syrian regime. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham killed two civilians, while the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) killed four civilians, including two children and one woman. One child was killed by international coalition forces, and 50 civilians, including 18 children and two women, were killed by other parties, among them 12 children killed by Hezbollah forces.
The report noted that Daraa province accounted for 31% of the documented casualties in July, the highest among the provinces, with 18 victims killed by other parties. This was followed by the occupied Golan Heights at approximately 18%, and Aleppo province at around 15%.
The report documented the deaths of six individuals under torture in July, four of whom were killed by Syrian regime forces, and two by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Additionally, a member of the medical staff was killed by other parties.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights also recorded at least eight attacks on vital civilian centers by parties to the conflict and controlling forces in Syria during July 2024. Among these, five were committed by Syrian regime forces, one by all armed opposition factions/National Army, and two by other parties.
According to the report, evidence indicates that some attacks targeted civilians and civilian facilities, with indiscriminate shelling causing the destruction of buildings and infrastructure. The report added that there are reasonable grounds to believe that war crimes were committed, including attacks on civilians in several instances.
The report emphasized that the use of remote bombings to target densely populated residential areas reflects a criminal mindset and an intention to cause the maximum number of casualties. This clearly violates international human rights law and constitutes a blatant breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention, particularly articles (27, 31, 32).
On Saturday, July 27, around 6:20 PM, a rocket attack struck the ground of the municipal football field in the village of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, causing a massacre.
The network documented the deaths of 12 children, including 4 girls and 8 boys, as well as approximately 36 injuries and significant material damage to the location.
