A video shared online showed that British Prime Minister Liz Truss said she is a "huge Zionist" and a "huge supporter of Israel.”

Truss told a Conservative Friends of Israel reception (CFI ) she is a “huge Zionist and huge supporter of Israel” and once again pledged she would “take the UK-Israel relationship from strength to strength”.

She said: "I am so pleased to be here for the first time at the CFI event as your prime minister.

"As you know I am a huge Zionist, I am a huge supporter of Israel, and I know that we can take the UK-Israel relationship from strength to strength."

Speaking at Sunday evening’s Tory Party conference event in Birmingham she raised further concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Nakba Day is the annual day of commemoration of the Nakba, also known as the Palestinian Catastrophe, which comprised the destruction of Palestinian society and homeland in 1948, and the permanent displacement of a majority of the Palestinian people. It generally commemorated on 15 May, the day after the End of the British Mandate for Palestine and the creation of the so called State of Israel in its place - Photo: Pixabay

The PM asserted: “Believe me, the UK will never allow – together with our allies – Iran to get a nuclear weapon”.

Arab diplomats urge Liz Truss not to move British embassy to Jerusalem

Truss added: “In this world – where we are facing threats from authoritarian regimes who don’t believe in freedom and democracy – two free democracies, the UK and Israel, need to stand shoulder to shoulder and we will be even closer in the future.”

The party conference will end Wednesday, Oct. 5, with the Tories reeling from Truss reversing a top rate tax cut decision after strong opposition from her own party and historic losses for the British pound.
